Crochet Crowd Mystery Afghan WIP

I finally finished the third clue! Super easy pattern so far, and wouldn't you just know it, I still
messed it up. Lol nothing that wasn't fixable! I missed a stitch on each corner and didn't notice until I  had finished 10 squares out of 20. Any one that reads my blog can probably guess what the problem was ....yes Netflix again! That is proving to be a curse for me. Hahaha you would think I would have learned my lesson by now:)
I was all wrapped up in the drama that is Gossip Girl....oops!

Mystery Afghan Week 3

Everyone was eagerly awaiting the third clue and it didn't disappoint. I wanted summer colors, winter has been brutal this year, and this is definitely summery:)
I plan on taking my time and finishing these during the week. The sooner I get them done,
the longer the wait for the next clue:)

Mystery Afghan Week 2

It's the weekend already! I seem to have gotten side tracked this week. That's ok though,
I'm still keeping up with the weekly pattern. I have five more squares to finish up before the
third clue comes out this Tuesday. The pattern works up fairly quick as we are only embellishing
the granny squares we finished for week one. Here's what they look like so far..

The colors appear on the bright side in the photos,
but they actually compare to dark and medium
raspberry in color.

Now just waiting for the second release ....Tuesday:)

Crochet Crowd Mystery Afghan 2015

I've always wanted to do a mystery afghan, but always seem to find them way after they have already started. This time I'm cutting it close, but I'm still on time to be in on it from the beginning.
This one can be crochet or knit. I would rather knit it as I've never created a knit afghan, but I'm a very slow knitter and have some difficulties following some of the directions. In order to keep up with the weekly clues/pattern, I've chosen to try the crochet version.
There will be thousands of crocheters and knitters participating globally in this one and posting pictures of their progress. I'm looking forward to seeing all the beautiful color combinations and how I'm gonna measure up. I'm terrible at choosing colors, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best. I'll be posting my progress as I finish the weekly clues/pattern. I'm hoping I don't run into trouble! This afghan is said to challenge and teach new techniques, but sounds fun.

All crocheters and knitters welcome ...check it out in the link below.

Finding this mystery afghan project with just two days before it starts the clues, didn't leave me very much time to select my color palette. I went and bought my yarn today. Just my luck,
I found it on a Sunday, and Hobby Lobby is closed. My Walmart didn't have much of a yarn selection left. There was very little Caron Soft and I didn't see any Bernat yarn.
So, with no time left to order, I had to substitute the brand. It shouldn't really change the over all look.
It's the same medium weight, acrylic, and same yardage, but calls for a different hook.
It should work out just fine though:)

Ok, I was told the light was not good in the first couple
photos so I am adding a third one. If it's not good lighting in this
one, well then I give up on it lol.

WIP Making Progress...

I love this yarn! I like the color changes, and the light fluffy texture.
This has been a fun project for snow days. I measured a black and white infinity
scarf that I wear often to get the length. It measured 32 inches folded in half length wise.
Since this yarn is boucle it has some spots in it that are a little thinner than the rest.
I'm thinking it might have looked better in a criss cross pattern, rather than double crochet stitches.
I don't think it will look so " holey" while wearing it though, since it will be doubled up.
The fabric it has made is not heavy weight and perfect for cold but not freezing winter days.
Hopefully I will have enough left over for a matching hat:)
