Project Yarns

Finally, the yarn I ordered to match the Duo Swedish Yarns for my Pinwheel cardigan projects came in. Other than being excited to see the new colors I was in no hurry. I got lucky with the heather (pink) Encore since that color has been discontinued. Im pretty well set for fall and winter projects. The shrug has to get finished before I start on these, but I am hoping to be wearing these this winter.(keeping fingers crossed).

Shrug Progress

The shrug is starting to take shape...yea! The pattern is really lookin good. I had to rip out and start over at the crochet cast on (pink waste yarn), but the first few rows were a mess and I lost my place again. I have worked out a counting system that works for me to stay on track with the pattern. Lots of ladies from my knitting circle shared their counting systems and all I had to do was choose the one that was the simplest for me. I think its possitively great and wasnt aware of the many different ways to do that:) Thanks! It was a big help.

Recycle Recycle Recycle

Last night we went to the Hot Air Balloon Festival and they had some venders there... well we started looking around waiting for the festivities to start. Not really any thing I was interested in until I came to a stand that had some decorative wood working. To my amazement there sat hand made knitting needles. Well, that deffinately caught my eye! These are made of cherry wood and the tips are made from recycled cardboard and paper. Had to get some, thought these were unique, so I came home with a new set of size 10 needles:) My mom was laughing- saying I have managed to find knitting stuff no matter where we go.

Sock Rock

Since my kids have been little we have always been facinated with fossils, shells & odd rocks. Weve all made small collections over the years & have nice memories to go with each piece. My daughter surprised me with this little treasure the other day, I was rather excited.(She found it as it is pictured.) To me it looks exactly like a sock... so I have come to think of it as my knitters rock. Maybe this is my sign to learn how to knit socks after all. Its funny the cool things you can find in nature. I wanted to share since, to me , this was unusual and I loved the fact that she thought of me.
Thanks Hun {{hugs}}.

Cool Beans by Heatherly Walker

Are these not the coolest socks ever? Im not really a sock knitter, but I might have to give in and learn for these. Im very very hard on socks... so have been avoiding making any for some time now. I was very excited to find this pattern, and will have to work up some nerve before I tackle a project like this. These are made by Heatherly Walker. Coffee & knitting ....love the combo! (Have to say my favorites are the first and third pictures so far). The only bad thing about knitting is you always have to make your own projects...but I guess thats a plus since you are constantly broadening your horizens=)

The pattern and download can be found on ravelry.com
The pattern was published in Sock Madness 4 (a group on ravelry)

Thought this was adorable! My daughter has already added a pom pom blanket to her wish list for Christmas, only she wants a larger grown-up version.

Pin Cushion & Bella

As you can probably already tell my mom collects light houses and cobalt blue glass, at the time I was making pin cushions so the theme seemed appropriate... fits right in.

My Progress So Far...

Okay, heres the deal with the pictures... This year I decided to get out of the rut I'd been stuck in and change a few things in my life. (I think I briefly mentioned it a while back). The inside as well as the outside. To be honest the inside is alot harder to change. I wanted to add more happiness and lightness of heart to my life in general. Im not sure where I lost control of things, but I had lost myself along the way. Where is that fun loving girl I used to be? To make others happier when they are with you, you first need to be happy with yourself. So, the changes started. Inspite of the harsh situations the last couple of years have dealt us I can see a big difference.

On the physical side of things, I have changed my eating habits. Instead of comfort foods I have been eating healthy and heart smart (NOT giving up the coffee though, you just have to take a stand on some things..LOL) I have also been getting more excersize since about March, Ive started biking (for fun) and walking alot (me time).

For me pesonally, I have enjoyed joining another knitting group and hanging out with friends. Im starting to find my sense of humor again & my husband and I are "dating" once more. Its actually more fun the second time around=) Im taking time to enjoy things that I like and I have found that my family doesnt mind at all. Shocking at first I think, but they are getting used to it. No more being pulled in a million directions all at the same time. I think its easy to fall into the routine of family, work and busy lives and not appreciate eachother or actually live life experiences. Its all about the little things and those special moments you create in every day life. Ive been including them in my interests as much as possible and we have had a good time getting to know each other better. Its one thing to live with your family and totally another to really really know them and appreciate who they are. I have noticed that when I started making changes my family unknowingly started to change around me too. Im not even sure they all realize it...but life is good.

Anyway, just thought I would share my progress. Still working on things ....and have a long way to go, but it seems to be a good cause.
I want to thank my family for being a great support system and being patient through this whole process & my friends for just being there and encouraging me through all these changes=)

Note: I didnt want my whole blog to be focused on my weight loss and changes so I only post about it every now and then, but this web site has been a huge help to me in that area.
